New Inn Primary School is situated in the village of New Inn, to the south of Pontypool in the borough of Torfaen. It was opened as a new school in September 2006 following the amalgamation of New Inn Infants and Green Lawn Junior schools. Pupils are drawn from the traditional catchment area as well as from further afield, due to parental choice.
There are are currently 545 pupils on roll. Pupils are organised into eighteen mixed ability classes and two nursery classes (a.m & p.m). The school employs twenty two teachers and twenty six learning support assistants. Mrs Prendergast has been the Head teacher since November 2013 and Mrs Hooper has been the Deputy Head teacher since September 2015.
The school's achievements include the Gold standard Rights Aware School award, Bronze standard Campus Cymraeg, Autism Primary School Award, Basic Skills Quality Mark, the Eco Schools Platinum award, the ICT Mark, the 360 Degree Safe online safety mark, the Primary Science Quality Mark (gold standard) and the National Quality Award for Healthy Schools. We also take part in the Designed to Smile programme and Operation Encompass, as well as having a long standing partnership with the County Hospital, Griffithstown (intergenerational project).
